Tiziana Jill Beck deals with the luxury apartment complex and shopping area in Seoul called Acrovista where the artist used to live the first months of her stay in Korea. These sites were built in 2001 on the ruins of the Sampoong Department Store, which collapsed in 1995. Caused by sheer negligence in construction and maintenance of the building. More than 500 people died and almost 1000 were injured. Blending the real and the imaginary, Beck explores the Acrovista site, following the tracks of the “Sampoong ghosts“. Across her personal collected impressions and observations, Beck's aim is to portray South Korea's society today? between tradition, modernity, ancient and contemporary myths as well as the connections of the past and the future.
